The Head Won’t Go Where the Heart Hasn’t Been

In education I think we tend to target the mind and ignore the heart because we are so focused on test scores and percentages and ratings that we tend to just give facts without adding the motivation piece.  I honestly believe that once you have the heart of the students and staff all the other things will follow.

In order to change something you have to make a decision that this will benefit the organization. Yes you can be persuaded by an appeal but their has to be some intrinsic motivation that causes you to implement whatever practice is being introduced so that change can happen.  This is true when I think about my why statement, there is something inside of me that wants my students and all of the students in my school succeed therefore I am willing to do whatever that takes and I’m open to new innovative things.
