Course Design

Scaffolding refers to a process in which teachers model how to solve a problem then step back and offer support as needed.  It is believed that when students are given the support they need while learning something new, they stand a better chance of using that knowledge independently.

My classroom is blended with this particular unit being online.  Students will have the opportunity to access the course at school and at home. Each weeks lesson is built up in a way that it builds on the previous lesson.  Each lesson contains a video or visual explanation of the topic followed by a guided practice section.  Students will also be responsible for a quiz and discussion post.  My goal is to add as much support possible with additional videos and/or examples.

I am still working on how to integrate everything in a way so that students get the most out of it.  I want students to feel like they are learning as they go not just completing an assignment for a grade.
